MOBICON Artist Rules

  1. All art should be of Science Fiction, Fantasy, Gaming, Media and Anime/Manga theme. Single copies of signed limited-edition prints are allowed for bid sale as long as those same prints are not available elsewhere at the convention.
  2. MOBICON will collect a 15% commission on all Art Show gross sales.
  3. Per city, county and state regulations, 1% city sales tax, 4% county sales tax and 4% state sales tax will be added to the gross sale price of all purchases to be paid by the buyer.  By registering for the MOBICON Art Show, you agree to allow MOBICON, Inc. and its agents to collect and remit all applicable sales taxes.
  4. Originals may be displayed Not For Sale (NFS).
  5. Resale of art through the MOBICON Art Show is prohibited.  All work must be the property of the exhibiting artist.  Agents must provide proof of permission to sell work on behalf of the artist(s) they represent.
  6. MOBICON reserves the right to refuse exhibition of any work for any reason.  Works that are judged to be libelous will not be permitted in the show.  Adult oriented materials depicting graphic violence or sexual situations will be placed in the mature section of our show.  MOBICON and the Art Show staff reserve the right to determine if an art piece is “mature art” or not. Should you disagree with the Director you may appeal to the President.  If you disagree with the President, you may appeal to the Governing Committee.  The item in question must remain in the mature section during the appeal process. No artwork from commercial patterns, kits or molds is permitted. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the MOBICON Art Show staff.
  7. All two-dimensional artwork must be matted, plastic-wrapped, mounted, and/or framed. When hanging, please allow enough room for bid sheets.  Work will be hung from pegs.  If suitable mounting devices are not included, art will be hung using bulldog clips.  MOBICON assumes no responsibility to art damaged by clips if suitable mounting is not provided by the artist/agent.  Work that is not suitably mounted and protected will not be hung in the show.
  8. Small three-dimensional pieces (i.e. jewelry) must be in a lockable, closed display case with keys provided for the art show staff to complete sales.  Any such work received without these precautions will not be displayed.
  9. All artwork must be clearly labeled. A bid sheet must be completed for all pieces.  Pieces displayed Not For Sale (NFS) or for charity should be designated as such both on the bid sheet and on the control sheet.  Please type or print legibly on all art show paperwork.
  10. Once entered in the show, no piece may be withdrawn before 12:00 p.m. Sunday, nor may the conditions of sale (Minimum Bid amount, NFS status, Quick Sale amount, etc.) be changed without the written approval of the Art Show Director.
  11. Artist Registration forms and payment must be received by March 1st.  Please allow seven business days for checks to clear.  All funds must be in U. S. Dollars.  Spaces are reserved on a first-come-first served basis.  Once all space is assigned, artists will be placed on a waiting list for space.
  12. Mail-in art must be received by May 1st.  If work is not received by this date, the reserved space will be offered to artists on the waiting list in order of registrations received.  Refunds will be provided only in extenuating circumstances (family emergency, natural disaster, etc.).  Artists who consistently fail to send their work by this deadline may be refused entry into future shows.
  13. Walk-in art will be accepted Friday, beginning at 9:00 am. A receipt will be issued for all walk-in art accepted. Artwork may not be reclaimed without this receipt and photo identification. If you cannot reclaim your art, please make prior arrangements with the Art Show Director.
  14. Photography will not be allowed within the art show without the written permission of the Art Show Director.  Please do not give anyone permission to take photos of your pieces in the art show. Press photographers may be allowed to take wide-angle shots of the room, or photograph a particular artist's panels but only with permission from the Art Show Director and the artist.
  15. Minimum Bid is the least amount you will accept for the sale of your art. The Quick Sale price (if you elect to have one) should be a higher price that will enable the piece to be sold without going to auction.
  16. All pieces that receive 2 or more bids will go to Auction.
  17. All pieces not sold in the Auction will be made available for Minimum Bid price after the Auction.  If you do not wish to offer your work for this sale, please be sure to make the appropriate selection on your registration form.  If there is no indication of your preference on the registration form, your work will be made available for Minimum Bid sale after Auction.
  18. Participation in Artist’s Alley is limited to amateur artists.  The Art Show staff reserves the right to determine the professional or amateur status of an artist.  Professional artists may purchase space in the Merchant Room.
  19. No copyrighted materials (i.e. fan art) may be sold in Artist’s Alley.  All art and products offered in Artist’s Alley must be the original creations of the exhibiting artist.  Failure to adhere to this rule may result in removal from the premises.
  20. No wet media (i.e. paints) may be used in Artist’s Alley.
  21. Artist’s Alley membership includes only a weekend membership badge and ˝ of a 6-foot table.  A second weekend membership badge may be purchased at 50% of the at-door price ($20).  Artist’s Alley membership does NOT include space in the Art Show.  Space in the Art Show must be purchased separately.
